Milking
June is my main milker right now and she is a champ on the stand! I was so lucky to have such an easy going lady that produces great milk and allows me to milk her so easily! I milk her once a day, usually in the evening. I start with a hand held manual milker and finish up milking by hand, ensuring I get all the milk I can. I usually get close to a quart every day. Once I have finished milking, the jar of milk is covered and taken straight inside to be double strained and frozen. The raw goat milk I use in the RAW Farmstead Goat Milk Soap, is not pasteurized or cooked, it is raw in all its glorious goodness!!! When I'm ready to use the milk in a batch of soap, I take it from the freezer to mix with lye and oils for the final product, RAW Farmstead Goat Milk Soap! I also drink the milk and use it in my coffee for creamer every now and then. 😋
